The challenges I tend to enjoy the most are the ones I create for myself. I challenge myself all the time, to push past my own boundaries and what I think is possible for myself. These challenges still require courage, but not the same sort of courage as facing the challenges that are not of my own design, those things that life thrusts upon me. It is those challenges that cause me to reach deep into myself and find what I need within to face them. And it is in meeting those challenges that I connect to my own power and am reminded of my own strength in part because I am first connected to my own fears and limitations. And yet, I am willing to do what needs to be done. So meeting challenges is not necessarily about being fearless, wise, and powerful, it seems key that one be willing.
Keep in mind that every challenge, great or small, is moving you to look deeper and draw forth the highest in you. You're never given a challenge beyond your ability to meet and master. You'll rise above every circumstance because you're greater than any circumstance. Alan Cohen
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. The true neighbor will risk his position, his prestige and even his life for the welfare of others. In dangerous valleys and hazardous pathways, he will lift some bruised and beaten brother to a higher and more noble life. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I will greet this day with love in my heart. And how will I do this? Henceforth will I look on all things with love and be born again. I will love the sun for it warms my bones; yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit. I will love the light for it shows me the way; yet I will love the darkness for it shows me the stars. I will welcome happiness as it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul. I will acknowledge rewards for they are my due; yet I will welcome obstacles for they are my challenge. Og Mandino
